Executive Chef- Assisted Living
SUMMARY
Manages kitchen operations for food preparation and meal services in the Levin Palace.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Oversees and coordinates all kitchen and food preparation operations.
- Trains cooking staff for proper food preparation consistent to the standards of the Levin Palace.
- Works alongside the cooks to ensure all production is done for food service.
- Carries out the preparation and cooking of a variety of culinary dishes in different cooking styles.
- Promotes disciplined and quality working habits to ensure speedy cooking procedures in peak
working hours i.e. during lunch and dinner time with no compromise to food quality. - Maintains the food quality making sure that the food served to the residents is of excellent quality.
- Manages inventory and other kitchen supplies.
- Applies safety measures for the staff and monitors kitchen hygiene.
- Develops menu with the approval of the Culinary Director.
- Oversees the entire kitchen operation in the absence of the Culinary Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for supervising cooks and porters.
QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively
before groups of customers or employees of organization
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or
diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized
situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Chef preferred.
Knowledgeable in Jewish Cuisines
